Authors: James Ernest & Cheapass Games Guinea Pigs Publisher: Cheapass Games Medium: Boxed Price: $7.50 Reviewer: Logan L. Masterson Everybody knows that Cheapass Games are a great way to have a lot of fun for a little dough, but not everyone is aware of their steady improvement. One False Step for Mankind sends gold rush miners to the moon in a ridiculous battle for gubernatorial supremacy and lunacy is guaranteed. This great little game for 3-6 players lasts around about 3 hours and two bags of pretzels. You also need 400 poker chips (100 each of red, green, yellow, gray), 40 counters for each player, two 6-sided dice, 3 paperclips and 1 master token. You can order most of this (all but the paperclips, which you should be able to scrounge up on your own.) in a convenient pack from Cheapass or buy the bits at your local game shop. The rulebook, provided concisely on a single sheet of 81/2x11 paper, covers detailed ideas on laying out your 8 board sections, rules, strategy hints and turn sequence. The game opens with an auction of the county seats in your region (as determined by the board layout) and proceeds into a week-based turn sequence in which players stake claims, jump claims, build rockets, collect income, pay expenses and launch your constituents to the moon! Seriously, where else but a Cheapass game can you be the first governor of California by launching trains at the moon? Join the most raucous space race ever envisioned and have great fun into the bargain! Don't worry; it'll pan out for you. Playability 4 Logan L. Masterson, 2/23/04 | |||||||||||||
